At wca we take considerable pride in being active members and supporters of the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC).
The 2015 SETAC-Europe conference will be held in Barcelona in May, and as usual wca’s scientists will be presenting material covering a range of scientific issues.
Adam Peters maintains his prolific SETAC output with one platform and a lead author on four poster presentations:
- Application of the chronic nickel biotic ligand model in Australia: Platform presentation (Metals in the Environment: Fate, Speciation and Bioavailability in Water, Soil and Sediment session)
- Nickel toxicity in soft waters: Poster presentation (Interpreting Biological Effects of Metals and Their Mixtures session)
- Understanding the chemical speciation of silver from the use of personal care products in aquatic freshwater systems: Poster presentation (Metals in the Environment: Fate, Speciation and Bioavailability in Water, Soil and Sediment session)
- Environmental effects of Triclosan: Poster presentation (Bioavailability of organic chemicals: Linking science to risk assessment and regulation session)
- Assessment of the sensitivity of European freshwater environments to chronic copper toxicity: Poster presentation (Fate, Effects and Risk Assessment of Metals: Regulatory Perspective session)
Becky Marks will present on:
- The global assessment of manganese emissions from extraction and processing: Platform presentation (Fate, Effects and Risk Assessment of Metals: Regulatory Perspective session)
Iain Wilson will talk about:
- The fate of tin in aqueous media: implications for the validity of ecotoxicity testing: Platform presentation (Fate, Effects and Risk Assessment of Metals: Regulatory Perspective session)
Dean Leverett will present a platform and is lead author on one poster:
- Metal bioavailability: Identifying regulatory monitoring priorities: Platform presentation (Fate, Effects and Risk Assessment of Metals: Regulatory Perspective session)
- Evaluation of chronic Interspecies Correlation Extrapolation (ICE) models using metals: Poster presentation (Interpreting Biological Effects of Metals and Their Mixtures session)
Finally, Becky Brown is lead author on two posters:
- A critical evaluation of the weight of evidence approach for determining persistence in PBT assessments under REACh : Poster presentation (Biodegradation and Environmental Fate of Chemicals – Regulatory Acceptance of Non-Standard Tests session)
- Environmental quality standards for Bisphenol A: Poster presentation (Endocrine Disruptors: Exposure, Hazard & Risk Assessment session)
The full abstracts for all of these presentations will soon be available to view in the Scientific Programme on the SETAC Barcelona website.
Meanwhile, if you are interested in any of these subject areas and wish to discuss the work that will be presented with the authors, please do get in touch.
We will, of course, also be manning a trade stand at SETAC Barcelona, and will also be chairing some sessions, in addition to our presentations.
Full details of our SETAC Barcelona presence will be posted in a future blog nearer the time (including the locations and times of our presentations).
We look forward to seeing you all in Barcelona in May!!
